Quick Overview

This 100% pure essential oil of Ylang Ylang, 'Extra' is from first part of the first hour of distillation of the flower, certified organically grown in Madagascar. This is a very well-balanced, highly recommended Ylang Ylang.

Botanical Name: Cananga odorata

A large, rapid-growing evergreen tree, Ylang Ylang grows wild in the tropical forests of Indonesia, the Philippines, Madagascar and Reunion Islands. 'Ylang Ylang' means 'flowers of flowers' as the leaves appear very much like the blossoms and are often only distinguishable by their color. Pink, mauve, and yellow varieties exist; the best oil comes from the yellow flowers, which are handpicked in the cool mornings of early summer.
About the Oil
This essential oil is produced by steam distilling organically grown, fresh Ylang Ylang flowers from Madagascar.

The flowers may be distilled several times, and the oil varies in quality, depending on the distillation. This oil is from the very first minutes of the distillation: the Ylang Ylang 'fraction' called 'extra' and is considered the very finest quality, sought after by natural perfumers and aromatherapists alike.

Aromatherapy Notes
This Ylang Ylang essential oil has intoxicating sweet tropical fruit, orange and banana-ester top notes, complex, musty, rose and jasmine-like floral middle notes poured over balsamic, slightly wooded and resinous undertones.Often included in fine perfume blends, this oil is wonderful unto itself yet can blend harmoniously with: Rosewood, Jasmine, Vetiver, Bergamot, Balsam, Rose, and Jasmine oil. Ylang Ylang Oil is often used in men's fragrances as an alternative to the sweeter and more feminine rose essential oil.
Traditional Uses
Ylang Ylang has long been considered an aphrodisiac and hypnotic for its relaxing qualities. It has generally been reserved for use in cosmetic applications such as facial cremes, hair tonics and perfumes.
