Botanical Name: Pelargonium odorantissium
There are in fact two species of Pelargonium distilled to essential oil - this 'odorantissium' produces Rose Geranium oil, high in geraniol with a more rose-like aroma. The 'graveolens' species produces an oil with a higher citronellol content, with a correspondingly citrus-like aroma.
About the Oil
This essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and flowers of certified organic Rose Geranium plants grown in Albania.
Aromatherapy Notes
This Rose Geranium has a light, honeyed top note, complex floral middle notes entwined with deeply sweet and slightly cinnamon-spiced undertones.
Traditional Uses
Geranium oil has been used since the 17th century as a general tonic, brightener for the mind, fungicide, perfume and skin care agent.
Therapeutic Effects
Rose Geranium (ordorantissium) has all the properties of the graveolens varietal, with an additional aphrodisiac element due to the specific aroma compounds. Please refer to the Geranium essential oil page for all the therapeutic effects of this oil.
