Botanical Name: Ravensara aromatica
Growing up to 20 meters high with reddish-grey bark, the Ravensara tree is an indigenous species to Madagascar and is now also cultivated on the islands of Reunion and Mauritius. In the laurel family of botanical plants, it belongs to the genus Cinnamomum. Traditionally Ravensara is referred to as "the oil that heals" as "ravintsara" means "good leaf" referring to its many health benefits.
It blends well with: Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Clary Sage, Cedarwood, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Frankincense, Ginger, Grapefruit, Lavender, Marjoram, Pine, Rosemary Sandalwood, Tea Tree, Thyme and Lemon oils.

Topical:
- Ravensara essential oil has been used in combination with Tamanu nut oil for shingles - a 50/50 blend can be applied to the lesions; some users have fantastic results with this mixture.
- As a preventative flu treatment, combine a few drops of Ravensara to a few drops of Eucalyptus radiata in a carrier oil and massage onto the solar plexus, chest and throat.
Ingestion:
- For the treatment of acute flu, Ravensara is best taken internally: 1 drop (diluted in water) every 2 hours.
Inhalation:
- To alleviate respiratory conditions, and other chronic respiratory congestion associated with viral infection, add a few drops of Ravensara to a steaming bowl of water, cover the head with a towel and inhale deeply.
- In the treatment of chronic fatigue, Ravensara can be blended with Neroli, Rosewood and Myrtle in water (or neat) and diffused.
